Kathy Meyer Larson Launches Campaign For School Board

Kathy Meyer Larson officially launched her campaign for the Wayne County Public Schools Board of Education At-Large seat last night at The Firehouse in Downtown Goldsboro.

June 7th, 2024 –  Kathy Meyer Larson, a dedicated community advocate, proudly announces her candidacy for the Wayne County Public School Board of Education At-Large seat. Kathy is "A Mom On A Mission" who is ready to bring the much-needed perspective of a public-school parent to the board of education. 

"I plan to continue to work to foster collaborative communication between community stakeholders, staff, and school leaders to better the lives of all students across Wayne County ," said Kathy. "I am running for the school board to ensure that every student has access to safe campuses and high-quality education, regardless of their background or circumstances. I believe we can all work together to build a brighter future for our students and families."

Kathy's campaign will focus on key areas:

  1. Be a voice for parents.

  2. Give teachers and staff the support they need to succeed.

  3. Be a bridge between board, staff, and community to work together to meet the needs of our diverse student population.

  4. Advocate for every student in Wayne County with the heart of a mom.

Over the last few years, Kathy has led a team of parents to revitalize the Spring Creek Elementary PTA. She is very involved in the school and brings a wealth of knowledge and a passion for education to the campaign. She has a proven track record of leadership, advocacy, and community involvement that makes her uniquely qualified to serve on the school board.

"With grassroots efforts in the Spring Creek community, we've been able to get a lot of school safety and improvement projects completed," Kathy added. "As a member of the school board, I will continue to work tirelessly to ensure that our schools are places where every student can thrive, every teacher and staff member can succeed, and every voice is heard."

Every Wayne County resident who is registered to vote in Wayne County can vote for the At-Large seat in November.
